Two weeks ago, I was feeling brave and took Oliver to a local carnival, his first ever. It was tiny, but I was so much more scared about all those rides than he was, even the silly ones. I realized after he got off the first one, that I no longer was the Ma to a toddler, but now to a little dude. An independent carny rider.

100 million thank you’s to our good friend, Derek, who tagged along because he knew this was something I’d never want to forget, and for the four hours he spent editing this in my kitchen. You’re the bees knees, DerDer!
